The incident may not have been possible even a few years ago. But with the launch of the tech giant, Google, an artificial intelligence virtual smart home product called ‘Google Assistant’ in 2016, it is becoming possible to do a lot of things in our daily life effortlessly.
A few months ago, a feature was added to this Google Assistant, which allows users to make video or voice calls on WhatsApp with just a voice command. This means that you will be able to make group video or voice calls to your friends or relatives on WhatsApp without opening the app with the help of Google Assistant’s voice command feature. Previously, this feature was available for two applications, ‘Duo’ and ‘Hangouts’.
By the way, this feature will work on devices with a screen resolution of 720p or higher. In addition, the device must have Android 5.0 or higher version. It is also important to see that there is a version of Google App 6.13 or higher with the service of Google Play app.
Here are some steps we can take to make a WhatsApp call from Google Assistant –
- The first thing we need to do is give the voice command “Hey Google” or “OK Google” to activate Google Assistant. Or you can launch the app with the dedicated button on the device for Google Assistant.
- Next, you need to order Google Assistant to make a voice or video call to the person you want on WhatsApp. Suppose you want to call your dad on WhatsApp. So in that case you have to say, “Make a WhatsApp call to Dad”.
But let me tell you – there is one thing you need to keep in mind. The person you are ordering to call should have the same name on your phone’s contact list. Otherwise, no matter how many voice commands you give, Google assistant will not obey your commands.
